Guild Wars "Ghosts of Ascalon" Novel Preview

While you're waiting for Guild Wars 2 to be released, Arenanet have made available a free PDF preview of the novel "Ghosts of Ascalon".

Co-authored by Matt Forbeck and Jeff Grubb, the novel tells the story of Dougal Keane, one of the few people to have walked within the haunted walls within Ascalon City and lived to tell the tale, as he leads a team of adventurers back into the ruins of the fallen kingdom in a desperate search for a lost Charr relic, the "Claw of Khan-Ur".

Roughly 250 years have passed since the events of Guild Wars and the novel's storyline takes place one year prior to GW2 and gives readers a deeper understanding of the cataclysmic events that take place in the years between the original Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

There is a strong connection between the game and the book and something which will deepen the reader's enjoyment of the book is that players be able to interact with Dougal Keane and some of the books other major characters in Guild Wars 2.

One tasty morsel of information revealed in the preview is that one of Dougal's party members, Killeen, is a Sylvari NECROMANCER, which means it could well be the next profession to be "officially" unveiled. Sylvari Necromancer FTW!
