THE GW2 BLOG KREWE LOVED READING GHOSTS OF ASCALON AND DESTINY'S EDGE!
Guild Wars Book SeriesIf you're as hooked on Guild Wars games as the GW2 Blog Krewe are then you'll be happy to learn ArenaNet have hooked up with Pocket Books to publish a three book series of GW novels. (This isn't to be confused with the Guild Wars 2 ART BOOK - which is a different but absolutely spectacular piece of work). The three book series fills in the story gap (250 years worth) which exists between the end of the original Guild Wars series of games (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North) and the upcoming, and highly anticipated, MMORPG Guild Wars 2.Over the years we've seen a number of novels based on computer games such as Doom, Halo and the Command and Conquer series released, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that ArenaNet go down this road too. The first Guild Wars novel, "Ghosts of Ascalon", written by acclaimed fantasy author Matt Forbeck and co-authored by Jeff Grubb, was released on July 27, 2010.
The second Guild Wars Novel, "Edge of Destiny", was written by the talented J. Robert King and is now available.
A release date for the third book, titled "Sea of Sorrows" and written by Ree Soesbee, has yet to be announced. I had my fingers crossed it would be out by Christmas 2011 which would have given current Guild Wars players even more to whet their appetite with.It would have also made a better gift than the cheap deodorant and too-small socks I received from a certain relative who shall remain nameless...
The novels can be bought online, (the links on the right take you to where the Guild Wars 2 Blog Krewe bought theirs. )
